Creating Your Character
When you first enter the world of Soma, you will create a character by choosing a name and distributing your starting stat points. Your initial choices will affect how your character develops, but all paths remain open as you progress.
Human Characters
Human characters start in the Human town and can develop into one of five classes:
- Warrior - Masters of melee combat, specializing in swords and heavy armor
- Ranger - Skilled with bows and ranged attacks, excelling at distance combat
- Mage - Wielders of powerful magic, capable of devastating area attacks
- Monk - Martial artists who fight with their fists, combining speed with power
- Priest - Healers and support specialists, essential for group content
Devil Characters
Devil characters start in the Devil town and can develop into one of six classes:
- D.Swordsman - Dark blade masters with aggressive combat style
- D.Knight - Heavily armored devil warriors
- D.Archer - Shadow archers with deadly precision
- D.Warrior - Berserker-style fighters with raw power
- D.Fighter - Dark martial artists combining devil power with combat skill
- D.Wizard - Masters of dark magic and curses
Your character has several core statistics that determine their capabilities in combat and other activities:
| Stat | Description | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| STR (Strength) | Physical power | Melee damage, carrying capacity |
| DEX (Dexterity) | Agility and precision | Hit rate, evasion, ranged damage |
| INT (Intelligence) | Mental acuity | Magic damage, magic defense, MP pool |
| WIS (Wisdom) | Spiritual awareness | Magic resistance, MP regeneration |
| CON (Constitution) | Physical toughness | HP pool, physical defense, stamina |
| CHA (Charisma) | Personal magnetism | NPC interactions, trading bonuses |
Stats increase naturally through gameplay. Fighting monsters increases STR and DEX, casting magic increases INT and WIS, and taking damage increases CON.
The crafting system allows players to create weapons, armor, and other items. To craft, you need:
- Materials - Gathered from monsters or purchased from NPCs
- Crafting Skill - Your skill level determines what you can craft
- Hammer - The crafting tool, available from blacksmith NPCs
Higher crafting skill levels unlock more powerful recipes. Crafted items can sometimes exceed the quality of dropped items, making master crafters highly valued.
Soma features six weapon types, each with unique characteristics:
| Type | Style | Key Stats | Notes |

| Sword | One-handed melee | STR, DEX | Balanced speed and damage, can use shield |
| Axe | Two-handed melee | STR | High damage, slower speed |
